Foundayo: a new oral option, not a universal replacement

SURMOUNT-5: what a head-to-head trial can tell us

Randomized trial · published May 11, 2025. This open-label trial compared tirzepatide with semaglutide in adults with obesity without type 2 diabetes. At 72 weeks, tirzepatide produced a greater average reduction in weight and waist circumference. The result concerns studied treatments and participants; it does not compare clinics, compounded formulations, every dose or every patient group. OASIS 4: oral semaglutide and the missing comparison

Randomized trial · published September 17, 2025. The 71-week double-blind trial studied oral semaglutide 25 mg against placebo in people without diabetes with obesity or overweight and a related complication. Average weight reduction was greater with semaglutide. Because the comparator was placebo, the study alone cannot establish superiority to injectable semaglutide or other active treatments.
